I sometimes wonder if the people who design slot games ever actually play them.
In order to write a Lucky Lady’s Charm review, I had to play the game, as you would expect. I can, therefore, tell the designers that they could make the whole thing a better playing experience if they would just give it a go themselves and find out just how irritating certain aspects of the game are.
For a start, the graphics on this five-reel ten line game are really old-fashioned, and not in a good way. There are the stylised numbers, and the gold coin, there’s the ladybird and the horseshoe, the rabbit’s foot and so on, but the whole thing looks like a throwback to the 1960s (OK, I know there wasn’t online gaming in the 1960s, but this game has the look of a slot machine that you might have found in a seedy casino in Soho).
Even the Lucky Lady herself; which is the game’s wild card, looks like someone who might have been a good mate of Christine Keeler!

How much does the Lucky Lady’s Charm slot payout?
Then there are the sounds: really irritating plinky-plonky mechanical sounds and random bursts of characterless music don’t make for a relaxing, or an exciting gaming experience; they make for a desperately annoying and discordant gaming experience and had me reaching for the mute button in short order.
And why, when you have a win, no matter how large or small, do you have to press the spin button two or even three times to activate the next spin? Surely if the designers were players of slots, Lucky Lady’s Charm wouldn’t require me to be poking at the start button with quite the frequency as I found I had to.
Having said that, I wasn’t troubled so much by the repeated button pushing, as this only arises after a win, and I saw damned few wins before my bank dwindled into nothingness.
If I’d been lucky enough to find 5 Lucky Ladies on one of my ten lines, then I would doubtless be singing a different tune, as the payouts at the top end of this game are substantial. However, that is balanced out by the rarity of smaller wins; at one point I went 24 games without a single win…not even a bank-stretching fraction of one game’s worth. I don’t think I’ve ever gone that many spins without at least a few coppers being plopped into my begging bowl!
I did wonder if perhaps a switch to playing the Lucky Lady’s Charm mobile version might improve my fortune, or offer a better playing experience, but the game is exactly the same on a tablet as on a laptop.
How to unlock the free spins bonus in Lucky Lady’s Charm slots?
If you ARE going to play Lucky Lady’s Charm slot machine, then you’ll be keen on seeing three or more crystal balls on the screen, as that’ll give you 15 free spins, with your winnings trebled. You’ll also be praying for those 5 Lucky Ladies, as that’s going to pay a cool 18,000 ‘credits’.
To be totally fair, if I had had a big, or even a decent win while playing Lucky Lady’s Charm it would have probably allowed me to ignore the irritating music, the drab graphics and the incessant poking at the start button, but as it was one of the least generous games I’ve ever played, all these factors have found their way into this review, and will ensure that I, for one, won’t be found dead playing this game again.
